B757-200 TWA Model Aircraft 1/100 Scale

Price: $199.95
Item Number: MATKB757TWATR
The 757 is a mid-size, narrow-body twin-engine jet airliner manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Passenger versions of the twinjet have a capacity of 186 to 289 persons and a maximum range of 3,100 to 3,900 nautical miles (5,700 to 7,200 km). The 757 has been produced in two fuselage lengths: the original 757-200 entered service in 1983, followed by the stretched 757-300 in 1999. The 757-200 is the most common variant, accounting for the majority of all 757s ordered.

The first 757 rolled out of the Renton factory on January 13, 1982. The aircraft, equipped with Rolls-Royce RB211-535C engines, completed its maiden flight on February 19, 1982. It then embarked on a seven-day weekly flight test schedule. Five aircraft participated in the flight test program, which took place over seven months for a total of 1,250 flying hours. By the time flight testing began, the 757 had received 136 firm orders from seven carriers.

This specific 757-200 is painted in the TWA paint scheme. Trans World Airlines (TWA) was one of the largest United States commercial airlines from 1930 until its merger with American Airlines in 2001. TWA had hubs in St. Louis, New York City (JFK) and Atlanta, with focus cities in Kansas City; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Los Angeles. Flying to most major U.S. cities, TWA was one of the largest domestic airlines; before deregulation it, American, United and Eastern were known as the Big Four.
