Master craftsmen using historical photographs, drawings or original plans meticulously handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. This amazing HMS Trincomalee model has a unique black and white color with the bottom half of the hull made of pieces of brass and encapsulated in a layer of fiberglass. It features plank on frame, three decks, and two rows of ferocious metal cannons on each side of the ship. The front bowsprit and three large masts are connected securely using advanced rigging and lines painstakingly knotted and fastened by hand. Each yard has an attached hand-stitched rolled-up sails made of fine linen. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder are visible on the front and rear of the ship. On the deck, there are metal stationed cannons, authentic hand-built lifeboat with ribs and planks, wooden cabin, metal steering wheel, and many other spectacular ornaments. There is also an exquisite detailed admirals quarter on the stern with beautiful handcrafted brass statues and ornaments coated in white. This model comes standard with a solid wood base and brass nameplate. Itll make a perfect gift for home or office decorator, boat enthusiast or passionate collector.

HMS Trincomalee, built in Bombay for the Admiralty in 1817, is the oldest ship afloat in the UK and the last of the commissioned frigates of the Nelson era. She saw service in the West Indies and throughout the vast Pacific in the nineteenth century before taking a role as a training vessel, largely in Portsmouth, that lasted until 1986. The Ship was sensitively restored in Hartlepool between 1990 and 2001 in a project that gained widespread acclaim with the Trust winning an International Maritime Heritage Award. Today, HMS Trincomalee is afloat in the Graving Dock as the central attraction of Hartlepool's Maritime Experience and is open to the public throughout the year. In addition to the usual visits, the Ship is able to host weddings, functions and presentations and is a popular venue for filming. Educational usage is another important element of the Trust's work.
