So what exactly is a model airplane?

Model airplanes are replicas of aircrafts, made into display models, usually constructed with fine detailing. These airplanes can be installed with an engine, making it capable of flying, but more often than not, they are stationary static models for display only. These model airplanes can be representative of actual or imaginary aircrafts. Each individual model can be made-up of different materials, with the most commonly used materials comprising of balsa wood, card stock, and/or polystyrene. Replica models come in different sizes, measured in a scale system proportionate to the original object, resulting in either a larger or smaller form of the actual size.

Our military collection is by far our biggest and most popular collection. It consists of several of the most popular airplanes that have been in movies, air shows, and even combat.

The F-14 Tomcat made a big impression in the 80s with the popular movie Topgun. Since then, this twin engine, two-seat fighter jet has brought great nostalgia to all who loved the movie. In 1970, it was the first time this military jet was expose to the air. By 1974, the military jet made its first deployment on the U.S. Navy aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65). Since then, it had been retired in 2006 from the Navy's active fleet.

F/A-18 Hornet military jet perhaps most known for their flight exhibition squadron, Blue Angels. Aeronautic flight exhibition team was formed in 1946, making it the second oldest traditional air-show team that has flown under the same name. The group consists of 16 offices and 110 listed, each year the group performs in more than 70 different air shows throughout the United States.

One of the most well-known aircrafts, during the World War II (WWII) era, was the P-51 Mustang.

This bomber fighter plane has seen and fought its share of battles. The aircraft has been accounted for more takedown kills during WWII than any other military fighter plane. It has soared into the skies of Germany and made it clear it was king of all airplanes, by clearly wiping out the Luftwaffe Fighters. Having this great fighter plane in the hands of a skilled pilot surely made it unstoppable.
